Downey High School

Automotive Technology

Mr. Nolen

I have been working on cars since I was about 9 years old. I was in charge of the most important tool, the light source. Unfortunately I did not have shop classes in my high school. So after graduating high school I enrolled in a Basic Auto Class at Rio Hondo College. I bought a car with a broken engine and rebuilt the motor during the summer. I worked for a construction company maintaining their small fleet of trucks, trailers and tractors, while I was attending college and taking more automotive courses. I have work for a Sports 2000 race team one summer, 2 different auto shops in San Bernardino, race mechanic for a multi Champion Cart racer on weekends for 3 years and have worked on numerous cars and motorcyclist as  a Setup Mechanic and traveling mechanic for over 30 years.
